What I'm thankful for...

The Secret has been on my reading list for a while and I finally got around to reading [listening] to it. The book reiterates the power of the law of attraction and focuses on methods and strategies to activate that power. Some of the most fascinating parts of the book are the testimonials of individuals in dire circumstances that overcame seemingly insurmountable odds with an unwavering faith that they would influence the outcome with their thoughts and a positive mindset.

One of the first requirements to maintaining your faith and keeping a positive mindset is to be thankful for everything that you have right now. So, I took the challenge of writing down the things in my life that I'm thankful for.

  • I'm thankful for a living God that sent his son to earth to die for my sins.

  • I'm thankful for a living God that made me perfect in all of my imperfections and loves me for who I am and who he made me to be.

  • I'm thankful for a God that is working to bring all good things into my life and the life of my family and children.

  • I'm thankful for a God that's loving, patient, and forgiving despite of me getting in the way.

  • I'm thankful for Jesus Christ and the examples and teachings that he left us to live by.

  • I'm thankful for a smart, intelligent, beautiful, and funny wife that is my life partner and challenges me to be a better man, husband, and father.

  • I'm thankful for two healthy, beautiful, talented, and intelligent children that hold me accountable to my words and actions.

  • I'm thankful for my family and friends that have sacrificed, invested, and sowed seeds of inspiration, wisdom, principles, and values into my life.

  • I'm thankful for all of the barriers and obstacles that are placed into my life to help strengthen my faith and magnify the glory of the power and grace of God.

  • I'm thankful for each positive and negative experience that has helped shape and create my unique life story.

  • I'm thankful for my ancestors that sacrificed and worked tirelessly to make sure that future generations live better lives than they had.

  • I'm thankful for the human and civil rights leaders and activists that endured forceful, violent, and deadly opposition in the fight for equality.

  • I'm thankful for being born in America and during my generation to have freedoms and opportunities that are not afforded to everyone.

  • I'm thankful for the pastors that I've been blessed to learn from and that have strengthened my walk with Christ along my faith Journey.

  • I'm thankful for the scientists, engineers, designers, and entrepreneurs that have changed the world and inspired me to work in technology and build something from nothing.

  • I'm thankful to God for revealing his awesome power and mysteries of the universe through science and math.

I have this list in a Note on my iPhone and I read or listen to it multiple times per day. It gives me a renewed perspective on all of the things that I have to be thankful for and grounds me in a place of gratitude.
